Professor Liz Tunbridge , PhD

Liz Tunbridge

University of Oxford
Honorary Treasurer until 2019

Liz Tunbridge is currently a Royal Society Research Fellow based in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford.

She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Bath, during which she gained experience of industrial research at SmithKline Beecham. She then completed the Wellcome 4-year PhD Programme in Neuroscience (consisting of an MSc followed by a DPhil) at the University of Oxford. Since obtaining her DPhil, she has continued her research at the National Institute of Mental Health, US, and in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford. She is currently supported by a Royal Society University Research Fellowship.

Liz is an enthusiastic supporter of the BAP and has attended and presented at annual meetings since the beginning of her DPhil. She is a proud recipient of both the BAP Wyeth Junior Award for Pre-clinical Psychopharmacology and the BAP Clinical Poster Prize. She has always found the BAP to be extremely welcoming and supportive of young scientists. One of the greatest strengths of the BAP is its diverse membership (pre-clinical and clinical; academia and industry), which makes it well-placed to help facilitate the translation of discoveries in basic science into clinical advances and, conversely, to ensure that pre-clinical research is informed by clinical practice.
