BAP Education: Clinical Certificate

Background

Psychopharmacology is the single most effective treatment modality in psychiatry. It is vital we use drugs to their optimal effect - matching our choices and regimes to the needs and symptoms of patients whilst minimising side effects and avoiding adverse interactions with other drugs. New, often better drugs and new ways of using old ones appear by the month. With ever increasing demands on our professional time it is difficult to keep up to date.

In 1997 the BAP developed a programme for CPD in state-of-the-art psychopharmacology tailored, following extensive discussion with the profession, to emphasise practical everyday problems encountered by all prescribing psychiatrists. The Course is also very relevant to pharmacists. This important educational programme comprises modules (1.5 day) that include lectures, workshops and discussion sessions. Individuals may choose to complete either Part 1 of the Certificate or to extend their participation and study to complete Part 2 (for full details see ‘Requirements’).

Now in its twelfth year, new optional modules have been launched in response to demand from interested professionals. The programme continues to be extremely successful, with most modules over-subscribed.

This educational programme is completely non-promotional.
