Annual Prizes & Awards

Lifetime Achievement Award

This is a major award, launched by BAP in 1998. It is presented annually to an individual in recognition of the following three criteria:

  1. Lifetime achievement in psychopharmacology with an international recognition of contribution and impact.
  2. Major contribution to British psychopharmacology.
  3. Support for and contributions to the British Association for Psychopharmacology

The Award will be made to an individual in the latter part of their career, irrespective of whether they are working or retired. Nominations may be made by any Full Member of BAP, which includes all Council members, between 1st January and 22nd February.

Nominations should be sent by email to Susan Chandler, BAP Executive Officer (susan@bap.org.uk).

Curriculum vitae are not required but the nominator should include a supporting statement making reference to the three criteria for the award. After the closing date all nominations will be considered by a BAP Sub-Committee formed of:

All nominations with the support of more than half of the sub-committee will be presented at the next BAP Council meeting for further discussion. The final decision regarding the award will be made by Council.

If one member of the sub-Committee feels very strongly against the award being made to an individual then those feelings will be considered by Council when making the final decision.

The Award will be presented during the Summer Meeting.
